TROAS. Ilion. Circa 188-133 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 36 mm, 17.00 g, 11 h), Apemantos, magistrate. Head of Athena Ilias to right, wearing laureate and triple-crested Attic helmet. Rev. AΘHNAΣ - ΙΛΙAΔΟΣ / AΠHMANTOY The Palladion: Athena Ilias standing right, holding filleted spear in her right hand and distaff in her left; to inner left, monogram; to inner right, owl standing left, head facing. BMC -. Bellinger T43. SNG Copenhagen - SNG von Aulock -. Very rare. A beautifully toned and very well centered example of bold Hellenistic style. Numerous minor marks, otherwise, very fine.
